Second Step is a program that we started in the schools in the spring of 2018. Second Step is a program rooted in social-emotional learning that helps transform schools into supportive, successful learning environments. It is a school-wide program where classroom teachers teach the lessons, the school counselor is reviewing and expanding on those lessons, and the students are reminded again of the skill during Friday assemblies. Lessons are taught in separate units including skills for learning, empathy, Emotion Management, Problem Solving, and Bullying Prevention. We are excited to see the impact this program can have at our school as it has at so many others!
