Group Counseling

Group counseling is comprised of a small group of students (typically 4-6) from similar grade levels. Groups are educational in nature, and often run between 6-8 weeks. When planning group topics to be offered, teachers are surveyed to determine the greatest need. After a topic is decided, teachers are informed of the purpose of the group and skills to be introduced and practiced.  An invitation is made for teachers to refer students who might benefit from a little extra time and practice in further developing those skills, and parent contact is made to explain the group and invite their child to participate.

Group topics can include:
* Divorce / Changing Families
* Academic Success
* Impulse Control
* Friendship Skills
* Social Skills
* Social Thinking
* Stress Management
* Grief and Loss
* Anger Management
*Mindful Mornings
